Abstract

Solitary, purely intraosseous lymphangioma is a very rare lesion. Since Bickel and Broders first described lymphangioma of bone(ilium) in 1947, most patients have been reported to manifest multifocal osseous involvement, with variable systemic or soft-tissue involvement as well(lymphangiomatosis). A review of the available English literature reveals only eleven cases of previously reported primary localized solitary lymphangioma of bone. We report a 26-year-old female case of solitary intraosseous lymphangioma of left ilium. The osteolyic bony lesion of ilium in simple radiograph was evaluated by bone scan, bone marrow scan, magnetic resonance imaging, preoperatively. Curettage and autologous bone grafting was done. The diagnosis of lymphangioma was confirmed pathologically and immunohistochemically. At the follow-up examination, one year after treatment, there was no evidence of clinical and radiological recurrence.
